The Island Villa_The perfect feel good summer read Page 23
Thank you as well to Ibiza historian Emily Kaufman for your insight into the history of the salt trade in Formentera and Ibiza, and for providing the missing piece of the puzzle regarding the Bourbons and their involvement. Please note however that this my own interpretation of the salt trade and the governorship of Formentera; they would not necessarily have been run this way, and I had to bend a few facts – for instance, to most people’s knowledge it is unlikely that anyone from the Crown conducted any real investigation into the salt trade on the islands once it fell into the hands of the Bourbons, which is perhaps one of the reasons that it declined so much in later years.
Also thank you to my dear readers, particularly the gorgeous Kathy Schaffer, who sent messages of encouragement throughout the writing of this book. It meant the world.
All mistakes are of course my own.
